ABSTRACT
Food is a basic need and essential for human beings. The COVID-19 pandemic challeng-es us with food and nutrition security, and thus resilient food system is necessary. Home gardening may improve our self-sufficiency and have a sustainable food system to cope with the challenging situation. There is no denying home gardening brings many benefits to human health, including physical, mental, and social. Nevertheless, the most significant challenges of home gardening, especially in urban areas, are the substrate properties, light intensity, and temperature. Therefore, further investigation should investigate the impact of food crop yield on a household level, especially in urban areas in different countries.
